A LOVE LETTER TO THE CITY BY SISTERSJANSSEN

As local artists of Amsterdam, the city has a high impact on the stories that we tell. Inspiration is a never-ending thing and the people, especially women, of Amsterdam shape what inspires us to create. It’s almost like a New Wave that creates New Ways of being and expressing. Their voices give light to the city that we call home.

THE NEW WAVE THE NEW WAY

WHAT INSPIRES US THE MOST ABOUT THE CITY?

The people, the creativity, the drive, the stories, the authenticity, the passion, the WOMEN.

Individuals that use new ways of expressing themselves, that use new ways of creating. Individuals that have their own stories to tell. After all the people shape the city.

We made three artworks using different materials and techniques. The funny thing is that we also used new ways of creating the artworks by using materials that we have never worked with before.

Our artwork ‘’ WALK OF ART’’ is a translation of this New Wave of creative woman in Amsterdam that inspire us. They are bold, expressive, talented, and not afraid to chase their dreams. We would describe them as walking works of art.

LOCATIONS ARTWORK | ‘’LOCAL PASSION’’

Our artwork ‘’LOCAL PASSION’’ is a translation of the local hotspots that shape this city for us. All are owned by individuals that pour their heart and soul into what they do. All with different story’s to tell and/or messages to spread. Almost all these hotspots have in common that they create space for communities to express who they are, this is exactly what people need to be authentic in their own way – NEW WAY.

As we said, the people shape the city and these spots are filled with people that contribute to that.

BENCH INSTALLATION | NEW WAYS BENCH

An eye-popping bench that represents these new ways of expressing and creating.
