Made.com:
Our Amsterdam Apartment has a fresh new look ✨

We invited Ziarah and Tisja Janssen, aka @sistersjanssen, to transform the space and, well, they did just that.

Taking inspiration from the 1970s, and their approach to ‘striving for a colourful future’, the creative sisters have styled the space to perfection. Each room has a different theme showcasing various colours from soothing shades of green to powerful reds, telling the story behind how @sistersjanssen came into being.

Born in Curaçao, raised in the Netherlands, Ziarah and Tisja have always been surrounded by colour, which shines through in their art. A colourful future to them looks like a world where everyone and everything is accepted and represented and where we can just BE. Sign.us.up.

Come and see the apartment for yourself this weekend. Find us at: Raadhuisstraat 31-37, 1061 DC, Amsterdam

The everything

Hama Gallery presenteert met trots Not an Assignment: Serana Angelista, Ziarah Janssen en Kenneth Aidoo.

Ziarah Janssen’s palette of blues holds her energetic works for Not an Assignment together, featuring in every painting – sometimes as a quiet background, sometimes lacing in and out of a gradient of bright pinks and purples. In Ziarah’s work, the viewer can distinguish two styles. One is a devoted take on the woman as a subject: fluid as dancers, lovers or mother and daughter. These paintings are more figurative, starting as a sketch, and are characterized by smooth curvature. The other style is intuitive, freehanded abstractions: “I don’t know what I want but I’m looking for the moment it appears. Lots of paint, lots of feeling.”

Silence to Society

Expo Silence to Society

Two sisters, Ziarah and Tisja Janssen, combine their passions and beliefs to inspire and motivate through visual communication. They blend their mixed-race roots from Curaçao and Amsterdam into a young, funky, dynamic and feminine art that’s inclusive and colorful. Especially for this exhibition, they collaborate with their biggest inspiration: Their mother, Helen Martina.

All the artworks were created in times when the world was on its most quiet. The silence provoked us to search for our own identity and create from out our own identity. All the pieces are true extension of our journey and research to self-love and acceptance, daring us to speak up and visually communicate our beliefs.
